I am a psychotherapist, providing mental health treatment to individuals in Kentucky. I completed my Master of Social Work at the University of Kentucky in 2018 and have since been providing mental health therapy services to individuals and families throughout Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. I have worked with small children, adolescents and adults of all ages, now I primarily work with women.
In our first session you can expect us to complete an assessment together. This looks like you providing a lot of background information to me so that I can get a better picture of your mental health. While it can be a bit daunting to have to recount a large amount of information, we will take it at your speed and only briefly touch on this during this first session. You do not have to divulge things in great detail, especially if that makes you uncomfortable, but know that some background information is vital to my understanding of your functioning and treatment needs. We can always continue exploring past events in future sessions if need be. I like to send out a questionnaire prior to our meeting so that I have some idea of what lead you to seek care, and it provides us with some starting points.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my approaches to care. I attempt to provide more holistic care and implement mindfulness throughout sessions. I feels this gives clients education about themselves and helps them gain useful concrete skills they can leave with.
I have a passion for helping women, whether they are struggling with anxiety, health issues, or becoming a parent. I strive to help individuals find their strengths and heal themselves. I have training in trauma focused treatments and am also available to help individuals who have experienced trauma. While I primarily work with adult women, I can also provide services to teens and young adults who struggle with anxiety and depression.
I've been using CBT methods for 5+ years. In conducting CBT I will help you take a close look at your thoughts and emotions, in which you’ll come to understand how your thoughts affect your actions. Through CBT, you can unlearn negative thoughts and behaviors and learn to adopt healthier thinking patterns and habits.
I have in-depth training in Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). TF-CBT is geared towards youth with post-traumatic stress and mood disorders resulting from sexual abuse, as well as from physical abuse, violence, or grief.
I attempt a trauma-informed approach to care with all clients who may have a history of trauma. I recognize that I need to have a complete picture of a client’s life situation — past and present — in order to provide effective mental health care services with a healing orientation. This means I want you to feel safe, be able to build trust in our working relationship, and offer transparency in your treatment. I want you to feel empowered and to collaborate in your care with you.
I strive to incorporate mindfulness with all of my sessions and clients. Mindfulness-based therapy is a type of psychotherapy that involves a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), meditation, and the cultivation of a present-oriented, non-judgmental attitude called "mindfulness."
