First off, I want to congratulate you on starting your journey to find eternal peace. Finding a new therapist is hard but you're actively making the first steps and that's incredible. Welcome, I'm Chelsea and I'm a LICSW out of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. I received my Master's of Social Work from Rhode Island College in 2020 and have been practicing clinically since. I have practiced in a variety of different settings, among many different populations, of all different age groups. I strive to assist my clients in achieving internal peace and happiness through the utilization of different therapeutic interventions. I cater my therapeutic work to each client individually to meet the goals that are present. Join me in building a future together that exceeds any expectations that were previously present.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session together I treat as a way to get to know each other. Therapy can be scary and I understand that. I ensure that our first session is taken at the pace necessary for comfortability while still beginning the therapeutic relationship. I strive to emphasize that it's mutually important for you to get to know me as it is for me to get to know you. In all, I do what I can to ensure comfort, confidentiality and confidence on both ends.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have a passion for helping those achieve their goals and am dedicated to being a part of your journey.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have a passion for working with people, young and old, who are having a challenging time with their life and need some extra guidance. I have significant experience in working with adults of all ages, specifically within the LGBTQIA+ community. I utilize a psychodynamic approach, utilizing a variety of different evidence-based practices, which makes it easy to cater treatment to patient needs.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been practicing CBT treatment throughout my career across a variety of different settings. A main factor in this treatment modality is to use rapport building and client strengths in creating a treatment regimen that is specific to client needs. It’s most helpful as it can be modified at any point to promote long-term change and ongoing care. It also can be adapted to almost every identified treatment goal to be successful.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Throughout my practice, I have found that DBT skills are used during everyday life naturally. I have found that it’s helpful to identify these skills and practice them in order to utilize them in everyday life. While I don’t follow a strict DBT approach, I utilize pieces of this modality often on a client-based approach.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
When working through trauma, it is essential to understand the impact the trauma had in the past. It’s equally as important to understand how it continues to impact us as we work through it. IFS treatment focuses on healing in a way that explores past trauma wounds and works on healing them.
Grief Therapy
Processing grief is an important aspect of treatment but can present with barriers that other treatment modalities don’t cover. Through my work as a therapist, I have found that meeting a client where they are at in working through their grief is essential. I will be there for what you need, support you through the difficult feelings while being there to assist in how to move forward.
