I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, who studied at Loyola University of Maryland, earning a Masters in Clinical Psychology. I have over ten years of experience working with children, families, adults, groups and couples. I have specialized experience working with women and families to manage behavior and impulse-control issues. I utilize an eclectic approach that is strengths-based and tailored to fit my clients' needs. My approach is influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness practices, Trauma-Focused and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I will introduce myself and ask you some questions about what brought you in for therapy. I will ask you some questions about your history and what you want to focus on. I will provide you with information about what to expect in future sessions and about therapy in general. At the end, I will give you a brief summary of what I am hearing, to make sure I understand your needs. You will also get the chance to ask me questions about what our work together might be like. I love questions and collaborating with you. I also understand if you may not know right away where you want to start. The first step can be the hardest: I got you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My clients report that they appreciate my warmth, unconditional positive regard, directness, solution-focus and sense of humor. I can see the function of any symptom. This means I can see the strengths in all people, regardless of how they see their own shortcomings, without resorting to toxic positivity.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Beginning in grad school and beyond, my training began with a focus in cognitive behavioral therapy. I teach clients how to better understand their thoughts, behaviors and feelings, especially in relation to trauma, anxiety and depression.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT interventions to assist clients experiencing dissatisfaction, feelings of disconnection or that “stuck” feeling.
