Hi, I am Dr. Liz Mulwa based in NJ. English & Swahili speaking Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a doctor of Dental medicine degree background. I have fourteen years of practice in Psychiatry as a Nurse, Nurse Leader, and a Mental health Provider. Practice psychiatry across lifespan (caring for children, teenagers, young adults, middle aged and senior citizens). I empower my clients to live a life full of positive accomplishments. Works with Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital and consults privately parttime with Growth Therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session, we get to know each other, the client will be introduced to our style, and we drill into their story to know them better and draw a road map to mental wellness. The client should expect to be listened to more than ever, be heard, and offered options on a plan of treatment. After discussion of treatment options and goals, client will choose the best modality, consent for treatment and be offered the first therapy, and prescription if applicable. Follow up appointment and further education and advisement on medication may be relayed via client portal.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a clinician my strength is in getting the right diagnosis and offering evidence based treatment, starting with the least invasive methods, and being sensitive to the clients needs and safety. I like bringing out the forgotten best boy, best girl or best person in a client. I drill deep into history, and laboratory results to see whether there is a connection of current mental issue with medical issues, new medications, new roles, new achievements etc. as both the good and the bad sudden changes are stressors that can bring some brief imbalances in life. I teach my clients to put the correct price tag on themselves as self underestimation and/or overestimation does create pulls and pushes in the subconscious mind that impact on mental wellness.
