Hello and welcome! If you are reading this, you are probably someone who is struggling with something in your life. I am here to listen to you and help you work through whatever may be bothering you. I believe I am very caring, compassionate, and empowering, while also believing in being honest and real with my clients. I was born and raised in Minnesota, where I was practicing until very recently. I just moved to California. I have spent a couple of years living and practicing in Upstate New York. I have both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in social work, with my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work. I have worked with a range of populations, individuals as young as 4 years old to 55 years old, individuals of several different cultures, the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with developmental disabilities, families, individuals, and couples. My passion is working with children and adults who have experienced trauma. This being said, I have experience with a range of challenges from anger management, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, exploring healthy and unhealthy relationships, low self esteem and self confidence, parenting issues, LGBTQ+ issues, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and blended families.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is used to help me to get a better idea as to what is currently going on for you in your life, probably some of your personal history, and what you are wanting to work on in therapy. When there is time, I try to give space for any immediate assistance or suggestions you might need during the first session. After working with me for a while, you will notice deeper work typically being done in sessions, along with new tools for you to try outside of sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The population I enjoy working with the most are teenagers (12-18 year olds) and young adults. I love working with this age range due to their abundance of energy, humor, and their ability to have fun. I have worked with this population for the past 7 years. I also specialize in working with trauma in children and am currently expanding on learning and being trained in models to be used with adults who have experienced trauma. My ideal client will want to increase their awareness and understanding, be willing to engage in their healing journey outside of session, and be open to honest conversations and feedback.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have been using ACT in my practice for several years now. I have done several trainings on it, along with my own personal research. I look to use this with clients throughout normal talk therapy where it applies.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

I have gone through a very extensive training on ERP with one of the countries' leading experts. I use ERP on a daily basis in my full time job to treat OCD, anxiety disorders, trichotillomania, skin picking disorder, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have been using TF-CBT for years. I am trained & certified in this model. I use it with children and teenagers who have significant trauma to assist them in processing through the trauma in order to heal.

EMDR

I have recently been trained in EMDR and am regularly receiving consultation on this model. I use it a lot with clients who have trauma, and I also don't hesitate to use it with general mental health concerns and problems as well. We will explore your desired outcomes and whether EMDR will be a good fit foryou and your presenting issues.
