Greetings, I am a licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, who is licensed in Georgia and Illinois. I am currently resident in Georgia. I am also a Certified Clinical mental health Counselor (CCMHC). I have over 16yrs of practice as a clinician in the residential and outpatient setting. I am trained in the use of the following treatment modalities; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Getting to know each other and developing rapport, clarifying therapeutic relationships and expectations in treatment. identifying and briefly discussing presenting problems, provide validations where necessary, including supportive feedback and encouragement. Time will also be spent understanding personal background, history of previous engagement in treatment activities, identifying and problem solving potential barriers that may impede ability to fully engage in, and benefit from treatment activities.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Beside being a very good listener and non judgmental, I believe my ability to work well with individuals form different and multiple background and cultures including my extensive training and experience working both in residential and outpatient settings is a valuable strength that I bring to the therapeutic relationship. I am able to complete a thorough assessment/evaluations, with a collaborative and measurable treatment plan based on the individual's strength, and deliver evidenced based treatments modalities.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I have been trained and certified in the use of CPT treatment protocol since 2013, and have successfully use this evidenced based treatment protocol to deliver trauma focused treatment in-person and via telehealth to over 100 individuals dealing with symptoms related to combat trauma, sexual trauma, severe accidents, natural disaster etc. I find this treatment protocol very effective for Veterans or individuals whose presenting problems are more related to alterations in cognition in these domains; safety, trust, esteem, power and control and intimacy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

I am trained and certified in CBT-Insomnia, and have use this protocol since 2014 to help individuals understand habits and other factors that negatively affect sleep and work on developing new habits that improve sleep.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

I completed training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy in 2017 have have effectively used this treatment protocol to help reduce intensity and frequency of trauma related symptom for the Veteran population I have worked with since 2012. I find it very effective in dealing with avoidance of memory, places, situations or conversations that trigger negative distressing emotions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Help client get a basic understanding of relationships amongst events, what we tell ourselves (thought) about these events, the resulting emotions/feelings and the behavior these feelings/emotions may trigger. Clients are encouraged to become more aware of their thought patterns (use of thought diary) and thought challenging and modifying skills. Clients are also encouraged to identify and engage in activities that is in line with their values and support recovery goals.
