Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters Degree from Capella University and have been practicing for 11 years. All of my life experiences have led to how I work with my clients. My primary theoretical orientation is Choice Theory, which focuses on supporting, encouraging, listening, accepting, trusting, respecting and negotiating differences. Validating clients and their experiences is an important part in building the therapeutic process.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first session together is an Intake Session. This session consists of me providing verbal information of the limits of confidentiality followed by asking a lot of questions regarding background information about you and your family history. Once that information has been completed we will discuss the specific reason bringing you to counseling at this time. This will lead us into what your goals are for therapy. If you are unsure what your goals are don't worry we can explore them together. We will end the session with what the plan will be for us to work on in the future sessions.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I am a great listener and can read between the lines. I don't sugar coat things, so I will always be honest with you and provide realistic expectations. I have worked in psychiatric hospitals and have a great deal of knowledge in difficult mental health issues such as schizophrenia, delusional disorders, personality disorders, etc.
