About me

Hello! I'll get right to the point - these are the main issues I work with: 1. OCD, PTSD, and C-PTSD. i.e. rumination, overthinking, repetitive, unwanted, or intrusive thoughts, mental compulsions, fantasy/maladaptive daydreaming, asking questions like "What if?" and hyperfocusing on the stuff that keeps you up at night. 2. CODEPENDENCY. i.e. people pleasing, inability to say no, fear of upsetting others, lack of assertiveness, chronic feelings of obligation, poor boundaries, toxic relationships. 3. PERSONALITY CONCERNS. i.e. lack of purpose/identity, low motivation, depersonalization, coping skills no longer working, thinking, "No one understands me," or wondering, "Is there something wrong with me?" Do any of these describe you or your situation? If so, I'd love to meet you and talk about how we can work together to overcome your struggles. Feel free to browse through my profile and if you feel so inclined, make an appointment so we can work toward restoring balance to your world again.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Finding a therapist is like dating: There has to be chemistry! I want to be matched with the right person too, so I only list specialties in which I am knowledgeable. If you see something listed on my profile, then I have a combination of experience, research, and/or formal training in that specialty. If you do not see it on my profile, then we are not a good match. In our first session, I will spend the first half addressing your concerns, and the second half explaining which approach I think may help you the most, as well as the rationale behind the approach. I will also answer any questions you have for me.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My style is to use eclectic and integrative approaches, both of which focus on selecting from a wide menu of techniques. With eclectic therapy, we are choosing the best option to tackle a single problem (Think of it as choosing between a cup of coffee vs. a shot of B12 to get you going in the morning.) With integrative therapy, we are combining different techniques for a compounding effect. (Think of it as having both the coffee and the B12 shot to achieve maximum results.) There is a big difference between going to therapy to feel better, and going to therapy to actually get better. You are coming to therapy because you have tried to figure things out on your own, but you don't have the answers. So I believe it makes sense to "front load" your sessions with psychoeducation. I use a teaching approach to help you fully understand the what, why, and how behind your patterns. I often provide examples through the use of illustrations, including self-disclosure, to help your emotional brain understand what your intellect already knows.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with individual adults only (18+). I do not work with minors, couples, or families. Please be sure to complete the Intake Form before our first appointment. Failure to do so will require us to spend our first session completing it together.

My treatment methods

Experiential Therapy

I am a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) with the North American Drama Therapy Association. I enjoy using Role Theory in my work with issues of identity/self (similar to IFS, but much more robust). While drama therapy offers less options in a telehealth format, there is still plenty we can do, such as analyzing interpersonal conflict using the Karpman Drama Triangle, or doing psychodrama exercises which are modified for telehealth.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

In addition to ERP, I also use Inference Based CBT, as well as various personality-focused methods to work on your "feared possible self," a common underlying issue in OCD. I have found that working on boundaries and reframing one's personal standards also helps with issues of perfectionism and rigidity in both OCD and OCPD.

Psychodynamic

My psychodynamic approach is primarily based on the Masterson Approach to treating personality disorders, which relies heavily on object relations theory to help people understand their own behavior patterns in relationships. The Masterson Approach is helpful for those who are struggling with a personality disorder, as well as those who are relating to someone else who may have a personality disorder.

Jeniffer really helped me with my OCD and PTSD.. I was struggling with very obsessive thoughts when I met her. I was in a very dark place and she helped me with so many strategies and solutions. She is a great therapist. She listens to ME and knows what she is talking about. I’m thankful for her. She has taught me a lot about myself and the importance of having boundaries in my life which was a game changer for me. She is great and I highly recommend her. God bless her for her amazing work.

This was my first visit and the therapy modality that she introduced seems more empowering than the traditional “tell me how you feel” or “tell me what happened to you” kind of therapy. The way she describes it is like, I’ll be able to see my emotions but not be overpowered by them. I’m hopeful
