New to Grow
Hi, I’m Julie. I work with teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating life transitions and facing changes that feel overwhelming or hard to adjust to. Whether it’s shifts in relationships, career, identity, or daily routines, I help clients make sense of their experiences and build practical tools to move forward with more confidence. I also have experience supporting clients with substance use when it shows up alongside these challenges. Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels manageable and meaningful for you.
In your first session with me, we’ll start by getting to know each other and understanding what’s most important to you right now. You’ll have space to share what’s been challenging and what you hope to work on, while I’ll ask questions to help clarify your goals and priorities. Together, we’ll create a plan that feels manageable and practical, focusing on real strategies you can use in your daily life. Whether you’re unsure where to start or know exactly what you want to work on, our first session is a safe, judgment-free space to explore your next steps.
I take a practical, collaborative approach to therapy. I focus on helping clients navigate life changes, adjust to new circumstances, and build coping skills that actually work in daily life. My sessions are supportive but action-oriented, meaning we talk through challenges and also create strategies you can put into practice right away. I also integrate evidence-based methods, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, when they fit your goals. Many clients tell me they leave sessions feeling more confident, clear, and prepared to face whatever transitions or challenges come next.
I am best positioned to work with teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating life transitions and facing changes that feel overwhelming or difficult to adjust to. My clients may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low confidence, or uncertainty about their next steps, and they often want support in building practical strategies to feel more in control. I also work with individuals who are curious about exploring substance use concerns alongside other life challenges. My ideal clients are open to reflection, motivated to make meaningful changes, and looking for a supportive, collaborative approach that combines guidance with real-world tools they can apply in their daily lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In our sessions, I work with you to identify patterns of thinking that may be holding you back or making life transitions feel overwhelming. Together, we explore how these thoughts influence your emotions and actions, and we develop practical strategies to reframe negative thinking, manage stress, and respond to challenges more effectively. CBT is very hands-on, so you’ll leave sessions with concrete tools you can apply in everyday situations to feel more in control and confident during times of change.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, non-judgmental approach that helps you explore your feelings about change—whether it’s adjusting to a new life stage, making decisions, or addressing substance use. In our sessions, I’ll guide you in examining both the parts of you that want change and the parts that feel uncertain or resistant. This approach helps you clarify your values, build motivation, and make decisions that feel authentic to you. MI is supportive and empowering, so you move toward change at a pace that feels right, while gaining confidence and insight along the way.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Therapy is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on what’s working and what you want to achieve, rather than dwelling on problems. In our sessions, we’ll identify your goals and the steps you can take to reach them, even if they feel small at first. I help you recognize your strengths, explore past successes, and develop practical strategies to navigate life transitions, make decisions, and adjust to change. This approach is empowering and action-focused, so you leave sessions with clear, achievable steps to move forward and feel more confident in handling life’s challenges.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-Centered Therapy provides a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. In our sessions, I focus on listening deeply and understanding your perspective, helping you feel heard and validated. This approach encourages self-exploration and self-discovery, so you can gain insight into your challenges, build confidence, and make choices that align with your values. It’s especially helpful for navigating life transitions, adjusting to change, and processing emotions, allowing you to feel supported while developing your own solutions.
