I am a licensed marriage and family therapist located in San Francisco, specializing in psychotherapy for adult/elder individuals and couples. I’ve had the privilege of working within various multidisciplinary teams providing psychotherapy for over a decade. This work has enabled me to develop my therapeutic skills and expand on personal attributes vital to the therapeutic processes. I’m passionate, committed to work with people toward their goals, to heal emotional wounds, to achieve more clarity while allowing for growth and improving lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will involve an assessment to see what your needs are and also use this time to answer any questions that you might have. By the end of the session, we will have an idea of a general plan for treatment. If it feels like we are a good fit for working together, we will schedule a follow up session.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

As a licensed therapist, I will utilize cutting edge evidence-based tools to help you cope with roadblocks. However, tools and techniques can only go so far because every person is unique. My orientation to therapy and treatment can best be described as integrative, meaning that I employ aspects of evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral, Mindfulness, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy and Psychodynamic approach with emphasis on Attachment Theory to assist in developing a treatment plan tailored to individual clients’ needs and preferences.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a Iranian American therapist, I am passionate about serving and advocating on behalf of the Community. I am sensitive to the complex dynamic of individuals with multi-cultural identities and those who may be dealing with cross-cultural issues and immigrants who may often times feel misunderstood. I am particularly interested and can better support you with the following challenges: Life Transitions (grief, caregiving), Anxiety (social anxiety, lack of self-confidence, constant "worrying"), Addictions (substance abuse), Trauma (including immigration, incarceration, emotional abuse, physical/verbal/sexual abuse), Depression, low self esteem, Insomnia, Communication and relationship challenges, and Social justice (legal/criminal).
