LMFT, 8 years of experience
Greetings! I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist with a background in Criminology and Clinical Counseling Psychology. I assist individuals and couples navigate life, trauma, and a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression. With my background in Criminology, I also have insights into how legal, and societal factors impact individuals and relationships. This is beneficial when working with clients who have experienced trauma or are dealing with issues related to the criminal justice system.
In the initial session, my primary focus is on creating a comfortable and open environment for clients to share their experiences. Through a thorough assessment, I aim to understand their unique perspectives, concerns, and goals. This process involves exploring the presenting problem, the challenges they're facing, and the impact on their lives. Equally important is gauging the compatibility of the therapeutic relationship. It's crucial for clients to feel a sense of trust and connection with their therapist. By collaboratively delving into their presenting issues, we can determine if my therapeutic approach aligns with their needs and if we can work together effectively to address their concerns and foster positive change. This initial exploration sets the foundation for a supportive and effective therapeutic journey.
Having engaged with individuals from various backgrounds, I've cultivated a deep understanding and appreciation for the unique challenges that different people may face. This diverse exposure has equipped me with a versatile skill set and a nuanced approach to addressing the multifaceted needs of my clients. I am committed to tailoring my support to the specific contexts and circumstances of those I work with. Whether in clinical, community, or other settings, my goal is to to provide empathetic and effective guidance to individuals seeking positive change in their lives.
I find immense satisfaction in collaborating with individuals and couples who are eager and prepared to embark on transformative journeys in their lives. It's truly rewarding to witness the courage and commitment of those who are ready for change. Guiding clients through this process is a privilege, and I am passionate about assisting them in identifying and achieving their goals. Together, we explore new possibilities, navigate challenges, and pave the way for positive shifts in their lives. The resilience and determination of individuals and couples seeking change inspire me, and I am dedicated to providing the support and tools needed to facilitate meaningful transformations.
Prolonged exposure teaches individuals to gradually approach their trauma-related memories, feelings and situations. Clients learn that trauma-related memories and triggers are not dangerous. Symptoms of PTSD (anxiety and depression) can decrease by processing and learning that the trauma-related memories and triggers do not need to be avoided, but instead confronted.

I've been in therapy my entire life, I am 42 years old. This is the only human who has challenged me to be better, and to make the changes that were necessary. I was fearful to dip back in my past traumas, they literally use to haunt me. The changes I've made, the progress, and growth would not have happened if she did not assist me in my process. I am so thankful for her.

Khai does a great job of listening to you during your session. Creating an environment where you feel safe to share and express all thoughts, emotions, and experiences. She also facilitates conversation in ways that allow you to be introspective and reflective on life and experience. All while allowing us as patients to come to healthier choices and conclusions at our own pace.

Really great at asking questions and getting to the 'roots' of thoughts and feelings. Builds relationships that, over time, elicits conversations that advances introspection and understanding.
