Hey there! I'm dually credentialed as a Board-Certified Music Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I have 14 years of professional experience in healthcare and have worked across the United States with vastly diverse clinical needs. I specialize in recovery from mental illness as well as how these issues impact nuanced groups, such as neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized sociocultural populations (ex: BIPOC, diverse body types, low socioeconomic status, etc). I integrate experiential, verbal processing, and psycho-educational interventions in my work with clients. My goal is to help you learn how to best help yourself through building your internal resources and self-awareness. FYI that I am more available than this calendar allows, so if these times don't work, lets figure something out together (email: kortetherapeuticservices@gmail.com)

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We will get to know each other and I will go over everything you need to know for our work together. These topics will include your ethical right for confidentiality as well as its limitations. Feel free to ask me questions about my work experiences and skill sets. I will ask you about what brought you to my office. Lastly, I am excited to hear your story, learn about your strengths, and discuss your goals for our work together. In our work together, I hope to offer you an improved sense of autonomy and feeling of capability when it comes to managing your mental health needs. I hope to help you create healthier relationships, a broader worldview, and a greater sense of self-love.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Humor, flexibility, and authenticity are at the core of my approach/personality. One of my greatest loves in life is learning! Which means that I am constantly building my skills and better able to help you ;-)

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Attachment is the foundation for human connection, development, and overall wellness. But trauma breaks this bond which can set us up for a life of pain, insecurity, adversity, anxiety, hopelessness, or instability. Trauma-informed care recognizes your individual needs while using therapeutic challenges as opportunities to practice working through your symptoms (rather than avoiding them). TIC teaches you how to move THROUGH this pain and cultivate a life worth living. If not addressed, trauma can negatively impact your intrapersonal, interpersonal, and overall ability to function. It can trigger the onset of addiction, job loss, financial suffering, familial strife, and severe mental illness. But you don't have to go through this process alone...

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I see my client's lives through an "emic" lens that values differences as a part of a strengths-based approach to recovery. In other words- your culture matters... social justice issues impact our ability to be healthy and thrive.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have 6 years of experience with incorporating DBT into my clinical practice. I believe it provides a valuable perspective- as well as a set of tools- within an integrative approach to healing.

Integrative

As both a trained music therapist and verbal psychotherapist, I fuse a wide variety of strategies into my clinical practice. Experiencing our progress and potential can give us stronger insight, rather than just talking about it! I combine multisensory, integrative techniques to help you achieve your highest quality of life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

My goal is to help you understand how to work WITH your body, instead of against (or in spite of) it. MBT can help you to learn about the power of the present moment through practices that debunk perfectionism, anxiety-based rumination, social anxiety, and more. It is not just about meditating.... it's not about religion. Mindfulness is an ancient practice that helps you find harmony between your brain and body.
