LCSW, 12 years of experience
Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 12 years of clinical experience. My passion is to help others who are seeking therapy. I have extensive experience in using evidence based practices that are clinically proven to increase resilience and decrease negative symptoms. My approach to therapy is simple: I'm here to support you, listen to you, and help you develop skills that will positively impact your day-to-day life.
During the first session, you can expect me to be respectful, kind, and understanding. The first session is meant for me to ask you a series of questions including what brings you in, what are your concerns, and what are your goals. My intention is to make therapy an empowering experience for you.
There are several qualities about me that stand out. I have the ability to understand others, and feel empathy for those who are seeking therapy. As a therapist, I find myself to be warm and compassionate. I truly care for my clients and I consider myself to be nonjudgmental. We've all had struggles at one point in time. Seeking therapy is the most courageous thing to do, and I am here to offer my support. In my practice, I have witnessed clients come in feeling depressed, anxious, stressed, and by the end of treatment, they have gained the skills necessary to cope with their emotions.
I love working with clients who are college students. Going to college can bring on a variety of challenges including adjustment issues, feelings of isolation if you're going to school away from friends and family, depression, anxiety, stress, and even relationship issues. I'm here to support and guide you on how to navigate through these challenges effectively in order to help improve your mental well-being.
I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice to help identify and change negative thinking patterns. CBT is also helpful with changing negative behaviors. With CBT strategies and interventions, a client will be able to respond to any challenging situations in a healthier way.
I have used motivational interviewing with clients who need help with motivation to change. During this process, clients are guided to identify any ambivalence associated with change.
I have used Solution Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT) with clients who are appropriate for more short term treatment. While using SFBT, we highlight client's strengths and focus on finding solutions to any challenges they are going through.
I use psychoeducation constantly during my sessions. Psychoeducation is an evidence-based intervention that is meant to provide information, as well as skills, to help better understand and manage mental health conditions.
