Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Illinois. I received my doctorate degree (PhD) in clinical social work from Smith College School for Social Work, and my Master of Social Work degree (MSW) from the University of Illinois, Jane Addams School of Social Work. I have been practicing for 25 years, supporting clients that are experiencing depression, anxiety, and quality of life challenges due to grief & loss, care giving issues, aging, work/career stress, medical issues, relationship issues and more.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first meeting, we will start with introductions, and you will provide information about your challenges and what you hope to achieve over the course of our work together. We will develop a plan to guide how we should begin to address your challenges. In follow-up meetings we will review the plan to make sure it remains helpful for addressing your challenges and is helping you make progress towards achieving your therapy goals

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strength lies in my ability to empathize and connect with clients across diverse backgrounds, and to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship. As a therapist, I work to create a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their thoughts and emotions. Integrating evidence-based therapeutic techniques, I assist clients in the development of coping strategies and the achievement of meaningful change. Committed to ongoing learning and professional development, I stay informed about the latest research and best practices in the field of therapy.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I have 20 years of experience using Psychodynamic therapy. This approach has helped many of my clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence their current life experiences. Clients also learn how recurring patterns in their relationships and traumas from the past may impact their present life and emotional well-being. Psychodynamic therapy can assist clients with developing a deeper understanding of their emotions, motivations, and desires which leads to increased self-awareness, improved interpersonal relationships and personal growth. Additionally, clients develop effective coping skills to manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges, leading to improved mental health and well-being. Psychodynamic therapy empowers clients to make positive changes in their lives and achieve their goals.

Integrative

I also utilize an Integrative treatment approach that is collaborative, and client centered. Various therapy approaches and techniques are integrated to develop a plan of treatment that addresses the individual needs and concerns of each client. Recognizing the important role cultural factors play in a client’s experiences and worldview, culturally sensitive approaches are also incorporated into therapy to ensure that the treatment is respectful and relevant to the client's cultural background. This approach empowers clients by recognizing them as “the experts on their own lives” by encouraging them to be an active partner in the therapy process. Clients are offered and learn a range of tools and strategies to promote self-awareness, resilience, and well-being. Integrative therapy is a flexible, personalized, and comprehensive approach to treatment that addresses client’s unique needs and fosters positive change and personal growth.
