Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I want to learn about you; what has brought you to seek counseling, your needs, background, and current challenges. Then, we will identify your goals and a plan for treatment. You will leave the first session with a better understanding of your mental health goals and practical steps that you can take right away to begin feeling better.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic approach prioritizes connection and safety. I want to earn your trust and ensure that you feel comfortable with me. I do this by listening carefully and empathetically, seeking your permission to explore various topics connected to your goals, admitting when I do not know something, and centering your knowledge and expertise on your life. I believe that everyone has strengths and a purpose, and can do something different today that leads to a brighter and more hopeful tomorrow. Clients have shared that my helping style is warm and encouraging, and incorporates humor and creativity. I follow the guidelines set forth by the American Counseling Association (ACA) and California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT) Code of Ethics and adhere to all regulations that define my professional scope of practice.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I am certified in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for the treatment of a variety of mental health concerns. Utilizing this approach, I will work with you to determine what you want to achieve most in your life, and the practical steps you can take to achieve it. I will walk alongside you as you begin to experience positive changes in your life and help you maintain those changes until you are able to achieve your desired goals. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and trauma-informed.

Narrative

I have extensive training in Narrative Therapy, which focuses on your life story. Together, we will explore how problems came to take up space in your life, how they impact you, and how they are connected to larger social and relational dynamics and systems. We will also explore your strengths, identity, and the ways that you have coped with problems in the past to help you start writing the story that you want for your future. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and trauma-informed.
