What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial session, we will embark on a comprehensive evaluation aimed at gathering essential information to shape your therapeutic journey. This evaluation covers various facets of your life, including medical and symptom history, social interactions, cultural background, and developmental experiences. This process is pivotal in creating a holistic understanding of your unique circumstances and tailoring an effective treatment plan. By delving into these aspects, we lay the groundwork for a therapeutic approach that aligns with your specific needs and goals. This collaborative effort ensures that the treatment plan we develop together will be a roadmap guiding your progress and fostering positive outcomes throughout our therapeutic journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a genuine passion for working with children and teens, regardless of the challenges they may be facing. My experience includes assisting kids and teens dealing with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, stress, trauma, abuse, ADHD, and autism. Employing therapeutic modalities like play and sand therapy, I focus on building trust and ensuring they feel heard, fostering their growth throughout the therapeutic journey. Additionally, I find it crucial to address parenting skills and tips when working with young individuals. In my work with adults, I have supported individuals dealing with mood disorders, grief, ADHD, and trauma. Facilitating the process of overcoming trauma is particularly rewarding for me, and I derive immense satisfaction from guiding individuals of all ages toward healing and growth.

My treatment methods

EMDR

In my practice, I have experience with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic method known for its effectiveness in trauma recovery. As a trained EMDR practitioner fluent in both Spanish and English, I integrate visual, auditory, and tactile stimulation based on individual preferences and comfort levels. With children, teens, and adults, I tailor the EMDR approach to suit their developmental stage and unique needs. Visual stimulation involves guided eye movements, while auditory elements include sounds or tones, often delivered through headphones. Additionally, tactile stimulation, such as gentle tapping, may be incorporated. This comprehensive approach allows individuals to process distressing memories and trauma, promoting healing across age groups and linguistic backgrounds. The bilingual aspect enables me to provide EMDR therapy in both Spanish and English, ensuring accessibility and cultural sensitivity in the therapeutic process.

Adlerian

In my therapeutic practice, I seamlessly integrate Adlerian therapy, a holistic and client-centered approach, to address a diverse range of mental health conditions, including trauma, adjustment difficulties, social anxiety, anxiety, self-esteem challenges, and depression. Complementing this approach, I incorporate expressive modalities such as play and sand therapy, providing additional avenues for exploration and creative expression. However, it's crucial to note that if a client expresses a preference not to incorporate expressive arts, these modalities will not be used, and the therapeutic process will still be effective. When working with clients dealing with social anxiety or generalized anxiety, the inclusion of play therapy allows for a dynamic and imaginative way to communicate complex emotions. The use of sand therapy, with its symbolic nature, proves effective in uncovering subconscious thoughts and feelings related to trauma, adjustment, and self-esteem. These modalities enrich the exploration of interpersonal dynamics, lifestyle, and personal goals within the Adlerian framework. By utilizing a blend of Adlerian therapy and expressive modalities, the therapeutic process aims to promote self-awareness, resilience, and positive transformation, fostering a more fulfilling and emotionally balanced life for clients.

Christian Counseling

In my experience with Christian Counseling, I use a treatment method that blends mental health support with spiritual guidance. As a mental health counselor, I integrate Christian principles and values into therapy to help individuals facing various mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. This approach recognizes the importance of both mental and spiritual well-being. For those who have experienced spiritual trauma, the counseling process involves addressing and healing from any hurtful experiences related to their faith. We explore how faith can be a source of strength and comfort. By combining psychological techniques with Christian principles, I aim to provide a supportive and holistic approach to help individuals navigate their mental health challenges while drawing on their faith for resilience and healing.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

In my practice, I extensively utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a therapeutic approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT is a versatile tool that I employ to address a wide range of mental health disorders, adjustments, and traumas across all age groups. For individuals facing conditions like anxiety or depression, CBT helps identify and modify negative thought patterns, fostering healthier emotional responses and behavior. In cases of trauma, CBT aids in processing distressing memories and developing coping strategies. I tailor CBT techniques to accommodate the unique needs of each age group, ensuring age-appropriate interventions for children, adolescents, and adults. Whether addressing adjustment difficulties, managing stress, or mitigating symptoms of various disorders, CBT serves as a foundational and effective approach in promoting positive change and well-being.

Play Therapy

In my therapeutic practice, I seamlessly integrate play and sand therapy, drawing on extensive experience to create a dynamic and effective approach, particularly when working with children and adolescents. Play therapy involves utilizing various materials such as toys, games, and art supplies to provide a safe and engaging space for non-verbal expression, ideal for individuals who may struggle with verbal articulation. The addition of sand therapy introduces a unique and symbolic element, allowing clients to manipulate the sand and use miniature figures or symbols to represent and process complex feelings associated with trauma, anxiety, or social difficulties. This combined approach not only facilitates communication but also supports the exploration of challenging situations in a manner that feels natural and comfortable. Play and sand therapy empower clients to build trust, enhance self-expression, and develop coping skills within a supportive therapeutic environment.
