Hello, I am a licensed mental health counselor. I practice in Indiana. I have been a therapist for 5 years and a nurse for than 30 years. I love being able to support my clients as they navigate life. I believe you are the expert in your lived experiences and my role is support you through those situations that feel like they did not come with instructions. My background as a nurse allows to also acknowledge the roles that physical health and mental health play in overall sense of well being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I want to focus on creating a relationship with you that is based in trust and caring. I belief the decision to seek counseling is a power move that deserves support and encouragement. I always ask my clients in their first session "what do you want me to know about you?" And I ask that because I truly believe you are the expert about you and I want to my best to understand you and what you are looking to gain from counseling.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my background in healthcare, my own lived experiences and my willingness to support my clients wherever they are are my strengths as a therapist. My experiences have allowed me to develop a set of skills that allow me to support my clients as they explore the beliefs, experiences, and habits that are negatively impacting their lives.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This approach is based on genuine caring for the person entering into therapy. My role as a therapist is to create a space where you feel accepted to address the things that are important to you.

EMDR

EMDR provides an approach to address trauma and the negative beliefs that often become foundational following a trauma. I have been able to support my patients to address trauma and allow to become part of their story not all of their story.

Grief Therapy

I trained with a children’s grief center in my area and primarily work with school age children in schools and adults that survived a suicide of someone close to them. What I learned and now know is that there are not specific stages that everyone goes through- each of us have our own grief story. And it is essential as a therapist that I create space for that story to be told.
