With close to 20 years of experience working for the Philadelphia Courts system and a background in communications prior to obtaining my Masters in Counseling Psychology, I excel at finding communicable common ground between individuals. I incorporate multiple treatment modalities in order to find the perfect combination of techniques in order to facilitate positive change in my clients' lives. My personal and professional philosophy is "Life is simple, people complicate it". Let's make things simple again.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will comprise of not only you giving me background information of what has brought you to seek counseling, but there will be transparency so we get to understand each other as people; not just therapist and client. Vulnerability and openness is necessary for any therapeutic relationship to be both effective and productive.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I pride myself in bringing my humanity to therapy. As someone who has been a therapy client before, I know what it feels like to feel like you're talking to a robot about your deepest and darkest pains and memories. I know the value of human connection and how paramount it is for healing. Whatever road you are on, let's walk it together hand in hand.

My treatment methods

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

Your beliefs influence your thoughts, and your thoughts give birth to actions. REBT gives clients the opportunity to explore the roots of what experiences in their lives helped shaped the beliefs they have about their lives, and my role in therapy is to help clients reshape their beliefs into more self-affirming, productive and fruitful mantras that will help redirect their lives in a positive direction.

Narrative

Our lives are series of stories that we tell ourselves and others that become the universal truths that we live by. I utilize Narrative Therapy by assisting clients to identify what stories about themselves, their families, loved ones, friends and associates they have come to accept with very little challenging. My mission is to help clients "re-write" their stories into ones they can be proud of, and craft them into ones that bring life satisfaction and a sense of purpose.

Adlerian

Adlerian psychology stressed the importance of understanding how individuals are influenced by their social context. It promotes that people are driven by a need to feel that they are significant and that they belong. No one is an island, and humans are not designed to function in isolation. My experience with Adlerian psychology allows me to help clients see how their spheres of influences (family, friends, job, school, etc) helped to mold and shape them and at times "trap" them into versions of themselves they would rather not be.
