I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in Massachusetts with over 10 years of professional work experience. I have experience working within hospital and outpatient settings. I have worked closely with individuals and families focusing on a variety of challenges. I strive to help clients move through hurdles and become more able to handle life's challenges and the impact of negative experiences on their daily functioning. In therapy with clients I work to create a safe space that fosters trust, privacy, and nonjudgmental acceptance. I meet people where they are, and support them as they work towards where they want to be. Having a positive and effective therapeutic alliance is the key to working through therapeutic goals successfully. I invite you to schedule a consultation so that we may begin the process of identifying and meeting your therapeutic goals. ~Jessie Presbie, LMFT~

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions and an opportunity to get to know each other better in order to foster a positive therapeutic alliance. Then we will jump into identifying specific challenges and initial goals for therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With my experience with both adults and children, I have been fortunate to be able to sharpen skills that have led to success when working with individuals, couples and families.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I have worked closely with children and family for over 10 years. When working with children and caregivers, I work closely with the family to support and build a positive and healthy parent child relationship. When working with adults, I will provide support with processing and overcoming any challenges related to early childhood attachment issues.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

When using CBT, I focus on providing psycho-education and support with acknowledging and reframing negative thinking patterns, in order to experience an increase in positive outcomes.

Couples Counseling

My concentration is in marriage and family therapy, and when working with couples my main goal is to support partners with more effective and supportive communication, in order to more effectively resolve conflict or face challenges.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

When utilizing DBT, I work closely with clients to focus on emotion regulation and distress tolerance skills, mindfulness strategies and effective interpersonal skills.

Strength-Based

With strength based treatment, the goal is to support clients with reframing any identified challenges and/or weaknesses into strengths. This approach focuses on resiliency, and identifying someone's strengths rather than their deficits.
