Hello there! My name is Manisha. Do you feel stuck in never-ending negative thoughts, that often pull you down? Or, do you feel the multiple life stressors in your life are not allowing you to stay in the present moment? You are not alone! I am here to help you in sailing through smoothly, as you navigate through different stressors/conflicts in your everyday life. I utilize evidence-based techniques in sessions to help you manage and cope effectively with the symptoms of anxiety and depression.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, we will work on soliciting background information about you to gain an understanding of your current issues, at the same time--we will also work on building a therapeutic rapport (to build a trusting relationship). At the end of the session, I will ask you to think of 2-3 treatment goals that you would like to work on during your therapy. As we meet on a routine basis, work on goals--you will start to notice positive changes. For example, you may notice that you are able to effectively cope with the "stressors". Once we complete the treatment goals, we can decide if we need to meet further to strengthen your coping skills or it is time for you to manage your everyday stressors independently.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I have been using evidence-based techniques to help my clients cope with their stressors. One of the most effective therapeutic techniques I use is "Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)" in which we will work on "negative automatic thoughts, behaviors/actions, and emotions". Along with CBT, I also integrate compassion focussed approach, motivational interviewing, a solution-focused approach, and person-centered therapy. I believe that every individual is unique; therefore, the right technique will be the one that aligns with your preferences. For example, some clients like "talk therapy", where they just need a "listening space", others want to strengthen their problem-solving skills--where a Solution-focused approach is the best choice. I am really open to seeing "what will work for you".

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I often heard from my clients, that they feel "being heard and validated" in therapy with me. Therefore, I have been trying to make sure "my strength--listening skills" is there when I am providing therapy to my clients. The other strength that I have been using in my therapy with clients is to "provide a non-judgemental space". I have learned in my experience that listening from a non-judgemental stance, sometimes is the only thing a person seeks in therapy".
