Have you ever experienced the sensation of your heart pounding uncontrollably, felt swamped with emotions, or found yourself unable to sleep at night? Perhaps you're grappling with the weight of responsibility, as your loved ones depend on you. Is this impacting your daily interactions, work dynamics, or your personal and social connections? Chances we have all been there at some point. I provide individual counseling and specialize in brainspotting therapy for clients. Let's embark on this journey together to uncover your strengths. I'll create a safe and supportive environment for you to be yourself, and we'll progress from there. With experience spanning children, teenagers, and adults, I've worked in both community mental health and private practice settings.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial counseling session, you can expect a warm welcome and an introduction to the counseling process, including a discussion about confidentiality and informed consent. I'll create a safe and supportive space where you can feel comfortable sharing your concerns and experiences, knowing that your privacy will be respected. Together, we'll explore your presenting issues, past experiences, and personal strengths to gain a deeper understanding of your needs and goals. We'll collaboratively set objectives for therapy and begin outlining potential strategies or interventions to address your concerns. Ultimately, this first session lays the groundwork for our therapeutic journey, establishing a roadmap towards self-awareness, growth, and positive change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest assets is my ability to connect with others. Establishing a secure and trusting therapeutic relationship where open communication can flourish is important to me. I like to create an environment where individuals feel safe and empowered to share their experiences, facilitating personal growth. As a counselor, I have qualities of compassion, empathy, and open-mindedness, recognizing the complexities of life. Coming from a blended and culturally diverse family background, I can relate to the challenges of navigating different perspectives. It's likely that, like many, I've encountered feelings of anxiety and overwhelm, further informing my approach to counseling.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Using CBT techniques has helped clients understand the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and actions. The client will learn to recognize how their thoughts influence their feelings and behaviors. Coping skills will manage distressing thoughts and emotions.

Brainspotting

During a brainspotting session, I will guide the client's attention to specific eye positions, or "brainspots," that are believed to be linked to the activation of traumatic memories or emotional experiences stored in the brain. I will facilitate the client in identifying and focusing on these brainspots while maintaining a state of mindfulness and openness to their inner experiences. This process allows the client to access deeper levels of emotional processing and release the stored trauma or distress associated with these memories.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I will use active listening to understand the underlying emotions and meaning with what the client reports. I will convey my understanding and will encourage the client to explore their feelings. The client will determine the topics they want to share.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I will assist the client in focusing on identifying and building solutions rather than analyzing problem. We will collaborate setting clear and specific goals and identify the client's strengths and existing solutions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I will assist the client on focusing on increasing awareness of the moment without judgement, learning to set boundaries, express needs, navigating interpersonal conflicts, identifying and managing intense emotions, and distress tolerance.
