Elyn Saks has said the humanity we share is more important than the mental illnesses we may not, and this is the guiding principle of my clinical practice, and cornerstone to my working relationship with you. Your success and happiness are rooted in a partnership that we share. You do the hard part of being vulnerable; to the best of my ability, I will listen, before coming to a shared treatment plan. The extent to which we do our part is the measure of your and my success. While I primarily manage medications, all can benefit from therapy. Medication management is a standard offering; however, I can never recommend medicine without psychotherapy. While diagnosis is necessary in scenarios of a biological nature and the dictates of managed care, I am mindful that diagnosis can take away from your individuality, personal stories, and humanness. A true and accurate impression of you, if you will, does not happen on the first date.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First, I hope one can come to a better understanding and appreciation of oneself. Doing that in this setting cannot be achieved on a one way street; dialogue and discourse are necessary if the aim is a true representation of you and the issues with which you present. I also aim to help clients see paths forward, different as they may be from one another.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Person-centered therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and psychotherapy are my general approaches. And of course medication management.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Mood disorders, anxiety, depression. While mundane in writing, these are complex conditions, requiring seeing through a particular lens for each individual, through which both you and I can overcome them.
