Hi! I'm Dr. Lisa Pinder, a licensed mental health counselor with over 25 years of experience helping clients make positive changes. I want to hear more about your current situation and help you develop effective coping strategies. In our sessions, we will explore your current situation, discuss areas you want to focus on and create goals to help you grow. I look forward to working with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first several minutes of the initial session are spent discussing the informed consent (e.g., reviewing the pros/cons of therapy, scheduling/cancellations, etc.). We also review the confidentiality laws for Florida and the times when I have to report information. After all of the housekeeping is done, we talk about what brought you to therapy, why now, and what they would like to accomplish throughout this process. With about 5 minutes left, we review the session, discuss any homework or follow-up activities, and schedule the next session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my greatest strengths are my ability to build rapport with, connect with, and encourage my clients. Our counseling sessions are brainstorming sessions where we explore existing patterns, emotional reactions, desired changes, and goals to ensure growth.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize a combination of Solution Focused Brief and Cognitive Behavioral therapies. The client and I work together to recognize patterns that lead to co-creating solutions regarding the client's presenting problem. We explore strengths and create a plan built on the client's goals for therapy. After the session, I use worksheets and homework to encourage the client to "practice" new strategies and to journal about their experiences.
