I am passionate about coming alongside you to help reach your goals! I am honored to be a part of each client’s process for healing and change, and value addressing whatever needs and goals are specific to you. I have been working as a mental health counselor for over ten years, and my favorite part of the job is seeing the resilience and transformation process with each of my clients. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, families, and couples with a variety of concerns including anxiety, addiction, depression, relationship concerns, and trauma. I am an LMHC that specializes in treating trauma and I'm passionate about working with my clients to find the healing that they have been wanting. I also value being a therapist that is a BIPOC individual, and welcome my clients to bring their cultural concerns and racial trauma to work through in sessions.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is spent getting to know you and why you are seeking services. It is a relaxed conversation about your goals and current difficulties. This is also the time where you can ask me questions about what to expect, my approach, and my experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. We will generally come up with your goals for treatment in the first session, but will continue to build rapport with each other and fine tune those goals within the first few sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my two biggest strengths are helping those with suicidality and self-harm, as well as those who have dealt with a history of trauma. It seems that these are the types of clients that are “drawn” to me, and thus, I have both experience working with and have attended trainings that are specific to these presenting problems.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

You are the "captain of the ship." In other words, you know what is the best for you, and I may just have some insight into things that you may not be able to see. Because of this, I may have ideas for what might be helpful, but I want you to feel like you are getting the most out of your treatment because it is just that - YOURS.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to look at how your thoughts, feelings/emotions, and behaviors are impacting each other. It is through this insight that I believe change starts to happen, because without that awareness, it is difficult to know what to change. Then, we will look at what thoughts and behaviors are helping and what thoughts and behaviors are not, in order to bring the change that you desire.

Psychodynamic

I use psychodynamic techniques to see how your past experiences are influencing you in the present moment.

Trauma Informed Care

I have studied trauma extensively because I have noticed that it impacts a majority of my clients that I work with; I use this approach in conjuction with other treatment methods as a lens to provide insight and clarity into how trauma impacts us and informs our behaviors.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I use IFS to explore how parts of our psyche impact and inform our behaviors.
