Life can be extremely busy and trying at times, especially now with all of the stressful changes in our lives, and we can feel as though we have too many roles to fill at once. This can create anxiety, depression, stress, and family issues. Having someone to help work through these difficulties can be extremely beneficial. I have many years of experience providing counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families who have needed assistance with child behavioral issues, parenting, family conflict, parent-child conflict, relationship issues, stress related to life transitions, self-injurious behaviors, depression, anxiety, infertility stress, and trauma. I like to build a good rapport with the client, sometimes through humor, to help them feel comfortable sharing their stories with me.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session I use a more casual approach to really get to know the client and to work on building a good rapport. My goal is to help the client feel comfortable talking with me.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel I am good at building a good rapport with my clients which helps them to feel comfortable opening up to me and to share their concerns with me. I am good at providing support and showing care and concern in a non-judgemental way. I also feel I do well with providing various strategies to help clients work through and better manage their difficult feelings and concerns.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I often help people decrease feelings of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other negative or difficult feeling by teaching them how to challenge and change their unhelpful/incorrect thoughts. I also help to teach them how to incorporate positive self-talk into their thinking patterns.

Family Therapy

I help families with various concerns learn how to express their feelings to each other in a calm and safe space so they can start to resolve their issues within the family dynamic.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I help trauma survivors start to identify and process their traumatic experience. I help them to change any faulty thinking that they have about themselves related to the trauma in order to help decrease negative feelings about themselves. I also help them to desensitize the trauma by having them create a trauma narrative of their expeirnce.

Supportive

I provide support and validation in helping people feel comfortable with sharing and processing their concerns and experiences.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT)

I work with children and their parents to help them to express their feelings to one another in order to improve their relationship with each other. I help them to better understand each other, and I also work with parents on learning how to implement positive parenting skills.
