What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
First and foremost, my goal is to ensure a non-judgmental environment where clients can feel comfortable to openly discuss vulnerable and sensitive issues . Therapy is one of the few places where you can express yourself freely and know that it will remain confidential. Your session goals are my priority. It’s your journey and a chance to pause and reflect on everything that’s happened during the week. Having a sounding board is so much more effective than just thinking things through by yourself. The initial session is 60-minutes and includes a comprehensive assessment of mental health, substance abuse, and trauma history. During this assessment, it’s your opportunity to discuss your current stressors and treatment goals. We will discuss a treatment plan of how I will help you to express yourself, develop coping skills, and guide you through the healing process. At times, I may assign homework to work on in between our sessions.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Working as a paramedic, I quickly recognized my desire to help individuals with mental health as well as their physical health. This realization lead me to complete my masters degree in social work. I’ve worked with survivors of sexual assault and domestic/narcissistic abuse, Veterans and individuals who have experienced trauma, and those who have experienced grief and loss. I consider it a deeply meaningful experience to work with people when they are at their most vulnerable point and have reached out for help and support. I am always honored clients shared their stories, concerns and experiences with me.
