I am a life long meditator who raised a family of three with my husband of 42 years. I returned to school as an adult, so I offer the hope and skill of a complicated life lived and obstacles overcome. I can help you define your problems, give them a voice, and find solutions to support the life you choose. I truly believe that whatever your challenges are, you can find a better way to cope. I can witness and guide you through it, if you are ready to look at yourself and your life honestly. Change can be fast or slow, but change we must in order to thrive.
I will introduce myself, and answer any questions you have about therapy if you have never been. We will talk about what to do if the technology fails so there will be no questions, and how we will wrap up the session. I will listen to your explanation of why you are seeking therapy. I may ask clarifying questions to understand the presenting issues, and discover the strengths you have to rely on. We will decide together how to proceed, and what we will focus on in future sessions if you wish to return.
My strengths stem from my education, intuition, life challenges, and great mentoring. I have personal experience with so many of the things that people seek therapy for: illness, child rearing, marital issues, family deaths, suicidality, mental illness, infidelity, bankruptcy and financial challenges, work/life/school balance, addiction, eating disorders, codependency, political division in relationships, separation of a family member. I have worked through all these either personally or with others close to me, forcing me to develop ways to cope through my own personal therapy. I have had several good therapists! Therapy works!
I have been trained in many different types of therapy and match my skills with client needs. This does not always fit into one modality.
I received my degree from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and have an extensive personal background in holistic therapies which incorporate focus on Body-Mind-Spirit. This fits well with an eclectic approach, because therapy with me can focus on physical aspects, cognitive aspects, and/or spiritual needs.
