I am a licensed clinical therapist with over 13 years of experience. I am Latina and bilingual in Spanish. I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology. I have worked as a therapist in a variety of clinical settings, which include hospital settings, corrections, child welfare, and domestic violence shelters. I have provided therapy to victims who have a history of emotional, physical, and sexual trauma. I have provided individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy in a private practice setting and have worked with children, adolescents, and adults. My goal for my clients is to help gain insight into cognitive distortions and provide the tools needed to cope with life stressors and transitional issues in a healthy manner.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I believe therapy is a tool used to promote healing and self-awareness. Successful change starts with the will and motivation of an individual to gain insight as a person and focus on changes that promote a healthy and happier life. During our clinical sessions, I will provide a safe and comfortable environment where you will be able to express your concerns, thoughts, and emotions. Humor is my third language and I use it in sessions to make my clients feel more at ease.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My clinical approach is utilizing cognitive-behavioral techniques. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented treatment that encourages one to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people’s difficulties and help change the way we feel. My approach is culturally-sensitive, non-judgmental, and strength-based. I also incorporate existential therapy in order to focus on the human condition as a whole and to highlight our capabilities encouraging us to take responsibility for our successes. Therapy is client-focused and designed toward the needs and goals of the client and, as a therapist, I am here to help you achieve those goals.
*Please note that I am not offering couples counseling.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths as a therapist are treating my clients with respect and sensitivity. I am flexible and understanding. I have worked with a variety of clients in a variety of settings and have learned what makes a great clinician is introducing yourself as human first and therapist second.
