My name is Faria Alamkhel. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW 119438) based in Alameda County, California working with clients statewide via telehealth. I obtained my master's degree from Stanislaus State in Social Work with an emphasis in Child Welfare. I have more than 6 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing life transition, grief, stress, anxiety, and depression.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing. This will help me create a plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In working with you, I provide a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. I believe that every human being has an inner wisdom, and I use evidence and strengths-based approaches to help us tap into your inherent ability to heal, thrive, and live with inner peace. As part of my approach, I seek to gently uncover the thoughts, feelings, and dynamics that may keep you stuck in some aspect of your life. I believe in the mind-body connection and honor a holistic approach to your healing journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing CBT in my practice for the past 4 years. CBT is used to recognized how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. CBT is the best method to change thinking patterns, which will help client's mood.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

I have been using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy for the past years. This form of psychotherapy helps identify self-defeating thoughts and feelings, challenge the nature of irrational and unproductive feelings, and replace them with healthier and more productive beliefs.

Attachment-based

I have been using Attachment-based psychotherapy for 4 years. This approach to therapy targets thoughts, feelings, communications, behaviors, and interpersonal exchanges that clients have learned either to suppress and avoid or to amplify and overemphasize because of early attachment experiences.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have used Mindfulness-Based Therapy for approximately 8 years and completed my graduated thesis on the effectiveness of mindfulness in stress reduction. This approach is utilized to get the client in relaxed yet aware state in order to bring back the client in the present moment. The goal is to experience day to day situations and stressors in nonjudgmental and non-reactionary ways.
