Hello and a warm welcome! Some things about me: I am a second-generation Taiwanese- American woman specializing in providing culturally-attuned psychotherapy to treat low self-esteem, intergenerational trauma, family conflict, depression, anxiety, and a general sense of dissatisfaction with life. I graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s in Psychobiology in 2013 and completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University in 2020. In therapy, I integrate heavily from attachment work to focus on healing past traumas and insecurities in order to grow into a confident, self-loving, values-driven individual. In my free time, I love to garden, hangout with my pets, and explore new restaurants.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session (aka the intake), I will guide us in gathering a comprehensive history of you - taking the time to really understand your background and what prompted you to seek therapy. Towards the end, we will come up with some goals together and figure out what we want to prioritize in our work together. I will ask you how the session was for you, invite you to give any feedback or fill in any gaps that may have been missed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that I am greatly skilled at actively listening and understanding the core issues that are causing each client's concerns. I create a loving and warm environment while still holding clients accountable for making progress on their goals. I am able to bring authentic relational skills and humor into our sessions, to make the experience a safe yet challenging one in order to promote each client to grow into their best selves.

Dr. Angela Horng specializes in treating intergenerational trauma for young adults and adults through an attachment lens. She prioritizes treating mental health from a multicultural, multigenerational, and systemic approach. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and she believes strongly in developing the therapeutic relationship and coming up with goals and assessing progress collaboratively with each client. She has many years of experience integrating interventions as needed from a wide array of methodologies including but not limited to CBT, ACT, DBT, somatic, and mindfulness based interventions.
