I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Nashville, TN, and also serving North Carolina virtually. I received my Master's degree from Pfeiffer University, Charlotte, NC, and I've been practicing for 10 years. I believe when clients have a safe place with genuine understanding and free of judgment, they can be their true selves, allowing them to do their best work. I also believe that with support and some direction, clients can take the necessary steps to make progress on their goals and create the lasting changes they want to see in their lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, I like to ease the stress that clients, especially "new to therapy" clients, may experience through rapport building. Clients can expect a friendly and safe environment. I set the tone for the session by explaining the agenda, reviewing pertinent intake documents, making room for Q&A, and slowly delving into what brings them to therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am Haitian-American and pride myself on being culturally sensitive to each client. I am a lifelong learner, and I remain curious about clients as they each teach me invaluable lessons about human nature. I eagerly apply those lessons in my practice so that I can continue to grow and evolve.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an empirically supported treatment method that is the backbone of my work with clients who experience various life problems. It has proven effective as a teaching tool for healthy coping skills and achieving meaningful and lasting change.

Gottman method

With over 30 years of research supporting this approach, the Gottman method has helped me to effectively teach couples how to create and maintain their "Sound Relationship House." That means couples experience their presenting concerns through each other's lens as they learn about each other's world, explore their conflict management styles, and build trust and commitment to create shared meaning in their relationship.

Attachment-based

The attachment-based approach is meaningful in exploring my clients' development as children and their parenting, which examines how they were cared for by caregivers, how those experiences translated to adulthood, and how to better understand their behaviors in romantic relationships.

Trauma Informed Care

Whether a single or repeated occurrence, many of us can relate to experiencing a traumatic event that was stressful, scary, or distressing. However, each one of us responds to that event differently. We may be aware of the impact of that event, or we may avoid it altogether as a means of survival. Trauma-informed care helps me recognize signs and symptoms, create a safe environment for clients to explore their history, help them learn trauma-specific knowledge, and tailor a treatment plan centered around reinforcing their strengths and resilience and developing healthy adaptations to manage trauma histories to improve recovery.
