I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor. I received my Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and additional training for my Christian Counseling certification from Light University. I combine my mental health training, to help you understand your symptoms, with God's Word, to help you receive hope and healing from the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
In the first session, I like to hear about what brings you in for counseling, and your back story of how you got to where you are today. This can include talking about your support system, school/career, culture, faith background, etc. Getting to know you and what brings you in, will help me to better understand how we can work together on your goals for counseling.
My greatest strengths as a provider are that I am a very attentive listener and I am a powerful prayer warrior. I pray for each of my clients before sessions to help me to be best equipped to help them during sessions.
I have experience helping clients incorporate their Christian faith into counseling sessions. This can look different for every client, but can include Bible reading, prayer, devotions, etc. As the client, I meet you where you are on your faith journey, whether you are questioning your faith, or have been walking with God for many years.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is helpful for clients to understand how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected.

Sometimes it is helpful to talk through a situation that you have going on and develop solutions for the short term. Solution focused brief treatment can be really helpful in these situations.
