Hola! I'm Jasmin and I am a first generation tricultural Cuban and Salvadoran Latine Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Southern California. I received my masters in Clinical Psychology from California State University Dominguez Hills. As a tricultural Latine therapist, I understand the complexities bicultural / tricultural/ multicultural individuals face and its impact on their mental health. Given my background, it is a priority for me to allow whoever I work with to show up authentically as themselves in a safe and genuine space. Collectively, I have been practicing since 2015 with experience ranging from children to older adults. Through the years of my experience, I have found my passion is working with young adults navigating life! Sometimes we all need support in processing and working through stressors whether it be relational stress, emotional stress, school stress, or career stress. My goal is to collaborate with you in your journey to help you reach your life worth living goals and live your best life. If you are interested in working with me, please feel free to book our free 15 minute consultation time to see if we are a good fit and if I am able to support your needs in your therapeutic journey prior to scheduling initial intake.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Prior to our first session, please schedule a 15 min consultation call to see if you feel we are a good fit and if I am able to support you with what you are looking for in therapy. During our first session, we will start with some introductions, explore some of your background history to get a full scope of who you are and honor that, discuss area(s) of challenge you are currently facing, explore your expectations of therapy and of me as a therapist working with you, collaborate and develop measurable goals you want to achieve in therapy, and form a treatment plan to help you get to those goals you identified.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I strive to keep it real with whoever I work with no fakeness from me! I feel this is so needed in developing a safe space to foster therapeutic rapport and genuine interaction, which normalizes our humanness. I see whoever I work with through a holistic lens, meaning mind, body, spirit, social, etc and strive to aid clients in adding to these parts of themselves. I collaborate with clients throughout our therapeutic alliance knowing that no two individuals are the same and that each individual requires different tools to help them make progress in meeting their therapeutic goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I am an active member of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies and serve as a diplomate. I have gone through I-CBT training through the department of mental health (DMH), Los Angeles county. Through the use of CBT, we explore the impact of our thoughts/ beliefs on our relationship with our emotions and behaviors that inform our daily interactions with self and others. With this exploration, our goal is to identify, evaluate, and respond to these beliefs/ thoughts in more effective ways so that we are able to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a Latine therapist, proud first generation Cuban and Salvadoran cisgender female, I strongly believe that cultural competency is a foundational necessity in any therapeutic relationship. I strive to foster a safe and respecting space that values and takes into account the cultural and unique backgrounds of everyone I am honored to work with.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I am TFCBT trained and informed, receiving my certificate of proficiency through the department of mental health (DMH). Trauma is something that has happened to us, it is not who we are. With TFCBT we learn how to respond to trauma reminders skillfully, learn to manage, process, and dissolve emotions / thoughts associated to traumatic event, enhance safety, growth, and communication with family or secure/ supportive individuals in our life.

Somatic

I do include use of somatic soothing techniques in treatment as often times our bodies hold onto our emotions and our nervous system can become easily activated when experiencing distressing emotions. With the use of somatic skills, we learn how to experience emotions in our bodies in the moment while regulating our nervous system
