I'm Ileana N. Rivera, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner ready to participate with you in an active program of mental health wellness. I grew up in New York City and have earned academic credentials from the City University of New York to Fairfield University where I received training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will allow for an understanding of what's immediately concerning you. Here we can determine our shared treatment goals and see if we're a good match! It's okay if we aren't because I feel treatment works best where compassionate candor and respect is mutually valued.

Having worked with patients and family managing serious mental health illness, I understand the importance of having a knowledgeable and compassionate provider who can support multiple pathways toward wellness.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with patients who are proactively working toward self improvement and personal excellence. Patients who understand that medication is one modality among others aimed at symptom improvement. And while we're both in agreement that medication can be quite needed when significant challenges begin to feel overwhelming, we know medication is one part of a successful mental health wellness program.
