Hi! I'm a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACNS) based in California. I received my Doctorate in Nursing Practice and FNP Certificate from University of Texas at El Paso, Masters in Nursing with ACNS focus and PMHNP Certificates from New Mexico State University, and have been practicing for approximately 8 years as a PMHNP. I currently treat a wide range of adolescents and adults using various psychotherapy and medication modalities.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During a first session with me, clients can expect several key elements aimed at establishing rapport, gathering information, and formulating a treatment plan. We will make introductions and begin to establish a rapport, discuss privacy and confidentiality, review the client history, assess current symptoms, conduct a psychiatric evaluation, collaborate on setting goals, provide education about treatment options and develop a treatment plan based on the assessment and client preferences. We will discuss medication management if recommended, and emphasize a collaborative relationship. Overall, clients can expect the first session with a PMHNP to be focused on gathering information, establishing rapport, and developing a collaborative treatment plan tailored to their individual needs and preferences. It's an opportunity for clients to share their concerns, ask questions, and begin their journey toward improved mental health and well-being.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with adolescents, young, middle-aged and older adults for the past 8 years, I've using a holistic approach, I have gained knowledge and skills for helping those with depression, anxiety, or grief or trauma (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a personalized treatment plan that leads to a better life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely-used therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors. As a practitioner, I have used CBT principles and techniques to help clients address a variety of mental health concerns for the last 8 years.

Grief Therapy

I have integrated my personal experience with grief into my practice which enhances my ability to empathize with and support clients who are navigating their own grief journey.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have integrated mindfulness-based therapy into my practice over the last 8 years which empowers clients to cultivate greater awareness, acceptance, and resilience in the face of life's challenges, ultimately supporting their journey toward healing and well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

I have used this approach over the last 10 years as a client-centered therapeutic approach that focuses on facilitating behavior change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. This allows me to empower my clients to explore their ambivalence, clarify their motivations for change, and develop the confidence and skills needed to make meaningful and sustainable behavior changes.

Integrative

By integrating elements from different therapeutic approaches in an individualized and flexible manner, integrative therapy allows me to provide holistic, client-centered care that addresses the complexity of my client's needs and promotes meaningful growth and healing.
