I am a first generation American who is from Chicago & who always had a passion for helping others. I have worked within social services and health care for thirty years. I began my career working with teens who were placed in the care of DCFS and who lived within the group home setting. I continued my career with working with teens who were identified as runaways and soon after, I began to work with individuals who were dealing with schizophrenia. I later in life worked as an ER technician at a Level One Trauma Center while attending graduate school. Thereafter, I continued to work within the health care system as an inpatient and outpatient care manager. Additionally, I managed the first ever memory assessment clinics that were established within this health care system.
The first session will include understanding who the client is, their family of origin, and the concerns the person wants to address. The first session is in person and will take 60 to 90 minutes. The client and I will ideally pinpoint at least two goals to work on or address in the coming weeks. A day and time will be established each week so that a consistent schedule can be set to achieve completion of the goals.
As a child of immigrants, I understand the struggles that families go through to establish themselves. I have experience providing case management & referrals to families that are dealing with a loved one with chronic mental health issues that family member refusing any type of treatment. Families often need referrals and direction to establish POA, guardianship and estate planning for seniors who are growing older and maybe dealing with cognitive loss. I feel my experiences as a community & hospital social worker has provided me with the education and hands on experience to understand one's experience throughout the life span.
I am happy to work with any client who is making attempts to make self-improvement or want to move forth with self-stabilization. There are many aspects of life that one cannot control and experiences that cannot be erased. However, within the therapeutic setting, a person can gain insight, acceptance and personal goals.
It is an important aspect of understanding oneself with relation to their place within a family & how early life experience help shape an individual. In session, I will gain a full understanding from the client who certain members are & how each member in a family has played a positive/negative role in the
With supportive listening, I will listen to each person's concerns to help each client address their concerns while developing a treatment plan to move forward in a positive manner.
