In 2014, I decided to take a leap and find a new way to focus and help others. I received my master's in clinical mental health and counseling from Western Connecticut State University. I'm a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the State of Connecticut. I've been practicing since 2015 specializing in addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety and ADHD. In my experience I have worked with both individuals and couples. The key I've found in helping a person find the best version of themselves is curiosity. Help me guide you through the journey of bettering yourself by learning to manage your emotions, think about your thinking as well as develop and create the boundaries needed to live your best life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we'll start with a brief introduction, followed with an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you might be curious about. It is helpful to know if you've been in therapy before, what was helpful, as well as what wasn't. Next, we'll focus on what challenges you're looking to address as I create and cater a treatment plan specific to you. We'll end the appointment with a plan on what you would like to work on in your follow up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Working in the field for the last 9 years as well as having the honor of watching a person bloom into their best self, I've often found meeting a person where they are and providing them with empathy and motivation to change creates my recipe for success. I've watched families repair after devastating addictions. I've witness trauma lift from a person who's stuck in their past through tools such as EMDR, giving them the strength to stand up tall, no longer weighed down by their past. I've worked with individuals and families struggling with severe and persistent mental health symptoms as they developed the tools needed for stability. As we dive into this journey together, I will look for concrete and measurable ways to ensure progress is being made.

My treatment methods

EMDR

As a certified practitioner of EMDR, I work with you ensuring you're both ready and able to start the process. Addressing experiences that are stuck, is both exhausting and difficult. Prior to diving into your most difficult memory, I want to ensure that positive resourcing and the ability to tap into this experience is already established. I want to work with you in healing what is stuck both somatically as well as emotionally. Remember, there are no 'supposed to's' with what you share in utilizing the eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. I'm also trained in DeTur protocol combing EMDR, motivational interviewing while addressing an addiction. EMDR can be difficult to connect with, so remember, it is only one tool in my tool kit.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Learning to notice and think about your thinking is a game changer with your own mental health. Starting to address cognitive distortions, feelings versus facts as well as gaining insight into labeling and naming feelings is such a helpful skill that is often not taught. Learning how to tap into this can help heal relationships, starting with yourself.
