LCSW, 10 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello! I'm Yhadira, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California with 10 years of experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I'm glad that you're here! Seeking help can be uncomfortable and even scary, so my goal is to help create a therapeutic environment in which you feel safe and supported in. I obtained my degree from the University of Southern California with a specialization in working with veterans/military families. Additionally, I have many years of professional experience in both in-patient and out-patient settings working with people dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, and difficult interpersonal relationships. My experience includes crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, and short-term solution-focused treatment. My goal is to assist you in reaching your personal goals, navigate challenges with you, and help to empower you so that you become the person you strive to be.
I am privileged to be chosen to partner with you in this process. The most important goal for our initial session is to establish a positive working relationship built on trust, respect, and an understanding of what you seek from therapy. I aim to make you feel comfortable and safe and will do my utmost to create a warm and judgement-free space for you. I will review legal considerations with you, including the limits of confidentiality, and ensure that you have an understanding of what you can expect from me as your clinician. I will rely on you to be open to possibilities and I, in turn, will commit to tailoring treatment that align with your identified goals. I will ask that you complete an intake assessment that introduces me to who you are and what you are looking to accomplish. I welcome hearing your questions and/or concerns regarding the therapeutic process and will continue to encourage you to do so as therapy progresses.
I take pride in working with an extensively diverse community. In doing so, I have learned that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. My work with you is based on variety of factors including cultural/ethnic considerations, religious/spiritual influences, social communities to which you belong, and any other variables that are significant in your life. I feel very strongly that whatever topics we explore in session are meant to support what YOU hope to accomplish for yourself. I will strive to always maintain a collaborative approach to treatment to ensure that what we focus on is of value to you.
I don't believe in an "ideal client". I welcome anyone who is looking to change their circumstance, who is open to gaining a new perspective/understanding, and who is willing to share their story with me. Every person is different, and everyone has experiences, thoughts, emotions, and values that shape who they are. If you're ready to begin the journey to personal growth, healing, and living the life you aspire to, I am ready to support your journey.
No two clients are the same. Therefore, my approach in working with a client is to utilize tools and techniques appropriate to meet each client's needs and goals. Most often, a combination of methods is most effective to assist each client in reaching his/her/their full potential. Techniques I use frequently include Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Solution-focused, and Person-centered therapies as well as Motivational Interviewing and harm reduction.
