About me

Welcome, I’m Dr. Kathleen Puleo. I bring 20 years of clinical experience walking alongside clients with compassion, care, and practical tools for growth. Many of my clients feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, whether in relationships, self-worth, or managing stress. and come to therapy longing for clarity, healthier coping, and deeper connection with themselves and others. I provide a safe, supportive space to heal old wounds, build confidence, and strengthen relationships. Together we’ll nurture resilience, break unhelpful patterns, and create a more balanced, meaningful life aligned with your authentic self. Reaching out for support is a courageous step, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey forward.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my goal is to help you feel at ease while creating a safe, supportive space to share what’s on your mind. We’ll take time to get to know each other, talk about what brought you here, and explore what you’d like to work on. I’ll ask some gentle questions to better understand your background, concerns, and goals, but this is also your time to ask me questions and share what feels most important to you. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out—we’ll go at your pace. By the end of our first meeting, we’ll begin shaping a plan together so you leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With 20 years of clinical experience, my greatest strength lies in meeting clients exactly where they are—with evidence-based methods, deep compassion, and genuine connection. I combine professionalism with warmth, creating a safe space where you feel understood while working toward meaningful change. What sets me apart is my ability to integrate approaches such as CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and the Gottman Method—tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. I help clients uncover the root of unhelpful patterns, heal old wounds, and build practical tools that create lasting change. Clients often share that they leave our work together feeling truly seen, supported, and empowered to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adolescents, adults, and couples who feel weighed down by anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges and are ready to break free from patterns that no longer serve them. Many of my clients describe feeling “stuck,” overwhelmed, or unsure of their worth, yet carry a deep desire for change. Whether you’re navigating struggles with self-worth, communication, stress, or emotional balance, you long for clarity, healthier coping, and stronger connections. My ideal clients are open to exploring their inner world, willing to be honest with themselves, and motivated to take steps—big or small—toward growth. If you’re ready to heal, build confidence, and create a life that feels meaningful and balanced, I’d be honored to support you every step of the way.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

In my practice, I often integrate Psychodynamic therapy to help clients gain deeper awareness of how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns influence their present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By exploring these connections in a safe and supportive space, clients can begin to understand the roots of their struggles, recognize recurring patterns, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I use this approach to foster insight, self-compassion, and lasting change, while also tailoring the work to each client’s unique needs and goals.

Schema Therapy

In my practice, I integrate Schema Therapy to help clients recognize and shift long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that often stem from early experiences. A central part of this approach is working with the inner child and strengthening the healthy adult, so clients can meet their emotional needs in healthier, more fulfilling ways. Through this process, clients develop greater self-compassion, learn to set boundaries, and create new ways of responding to challenges that support growth and healing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to difficult emotions and behaviors. By learning practical skills and strategies, clients gain tools to challenge negative thinking, regulate emotions, and make healthier choices in their daily lives. I use CBT in a collaborative and supportive way, tailoring it to each client’s goals so they can build confidence, resilience, and lasting change.

Gottman method

In my work with couples, I often draw from the Gottman Method, a research-based approach that focuses on strengthening the foundation of relationships through improved communication, trust, and emotional connection. Using practical tools and guided exercises, I help couples learn to manage conflict more effectively, deepen friendship and intimacy, and create a shared vision for the future. My goal is to support partners in building a stronger, more resilient relationship where both individuals feel heard, valued, and supported.
