Do you ever feel like life is just not going your way? Is the whole "adulting" thing giving you a beatdown? Are you tired of overthinking and feeling that there is absolutely no reprieve? Hi, my name is Dr. Taijah Davis! I empower those struggling with depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, romantic relationships, and societal pressures to overcome adversity by providing a safe space for personal growth and healing. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. In one on one sessions, I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as I find this modality to be extremely effective in addressing the therapeutic needs of clients experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, and numerous other mental health disorders. I also find Solution Focused therapy to be extremely beneficial in developing and obtaining specific client goals. When working with couples, I utilize The Gottman Method to help to address issues surrounding conflict management, connectedness, and communication within romantic relationships. Through my practice, I hope to create an environment where my clients can be their authentic selves without fear of judgment or criticism. I try to find a balance between that person in your life who is your top-tier cheerleader, but also one who won't hesitate to hold you accountable while reaching your goals. Sometimes there will be laughter and sometimes there may be tears, but it is all a part of the process as you strive to become the best version of yourself!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Through my practice, I hope to create an environment where my clients can be their authentic selves without fear of judgment or criticism. I try to find a balance between that person in your life who is your top-tier cheerleader, but also one who won't hesitate to hold you accountable while reaching your goals. Sometimes there will be laughter and sometimes there may be tears, but it is all a part of the process as you strive to become the best version of yourself.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as I find this modality to be extremely effective in addressing the therapeutic needs of clients experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, and numerous other mental health disorders. I also find Solution Focused therapy to be extremely beneficial in developing and obtaining specific client goals. Lastly, I utilize The Gottman Method when working with couples in premarital and marriage counseling to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy; and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I would argue that my biggest strength is being able to connect and build authentic, long-lasting, relationships with my clients. Walking into therapy can be scary, so I make it a priority to develop a space where clients are comfortable being themselves -- free of judgment and criticism. We all have baggage. We will work together to turn our checked bags into carry-ons.
