What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a strength-based psychotherapist. She sees people’s strengths even in moments they think they do not have any, and tap into a person’s inner resilience/resources to walk with people in their journey of healing. I am driven to discover the root of a person’s psychological distress and works collaboratively with you to tackle, and find solutions to the identified problem. I centers an individual’s culture as the foundation of the treatment interventions, and provides culturally responsive and specific services. I values respect, learning, and humility of the individual’s beliefs, traditions, customs and perspectives on their challenges.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an evidenced-based method and I use it to help individuals understand how their thoughts influence how they feel, and behave. I help individuals understand how to identify negative thought patterns that may arise out of assumptions, misconceptions, faulty and unhelpful thoughts, reevaluate them in light of the reality of their circumstances. When thoughts, feelings and behaviors are reevaluated in light of the reality of the circumstances, individuals often feel hopeful and a reduction in anxiety and depressive symptoms is ameliorated.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culture is key in understanding a person. I center my clients culture as part of building a respectful therapeutic relationship. I allow my clients to bring themselves fully into the therapy space by amplifying their values, beliefs, customs and traditions that define who they are, their families and their communities. I embody and demonstrate cultural responsivity and humility.

Eclectic

Therapy is not a one size fit all, and at times requires an integration of therapeutic modalities as such during assessment ant treatment planning I will draw from different treatment modalities that will effectively manage the problem/s identified. These may include insight-oriented, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness based therapies, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy and others.
