Hi My name is Heidi De Leon, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I have worked in addiction treatment for a little more then 18 years. My journey started at community college where I got inspiration to become an addiction counselor and later went on to obtain a Master in Social work from USC. I specialize in Addictions and Complex Trauma. I use EMDR (Eye Movement desensitization and reprocessing) as well as DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy) and trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy.
You will be heard and validated. No question is the wrong question and there is no need to code switch. My goal is to help you set realistic goals and help guide you to work toward them at your pace. I will also help hold you accountable as sometimes a gentle push is motivation. Change is uncomfortable and I can sit with you while your growth happens. During the first session I will review the legal aspects and take some history, we can set goals or your goal can be to develop some goals over the next couple sessions.
My strengths are being able to sit in that awkward silence with you and let you feel. I am structured but also flexible in the process to help you on the journey. I know therapy is not a one size fits all and being creative and nurturing are my other strengths I bring into the session as we work together.
I enjoy working with folx who are ready to take the chance on themselves and willing to try therapy. I have worked in community mental health and addictions and truly enjoy helping anyone from any group, religion, sexuality or culture. I always say not every therapist is for every person. You need to feel comfortable and safe. Therapy is also not always comfortable and as a therapist I will need to be able to help gently push you and help you grow. So if you are ready I am here.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
This mode of therapy is definitely different—but in a good way! I’ve seen people experience powerful shifts as they process past events and core beliefs using this approach. I really love working with it. Please feel free to ask me anytime if you're curious or want to explore how this tool could support your healing
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
My approach to therapy is eclectic—I draw from a variety of modalities to find what best supports your unique needs. One approach I often incorporate is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) because of its strong foundation in mindfulness and emotional regulation. I’ve been using DBT for nearly a decade and have seen it make a real difference in people’s lives
Trauma Informed Care
I understand that trauma impacts each person in deeply individual ways, which is why I center a trauma-informed approach in all of my work. Being trauma-informed isn’t just a part of what I do—it’s the foundation of my practice. It guides how I create a safe, respectful, and empowering space for healing.
Narrative
Narrative therapy helps people explore and rewrite the stories they tell about their lives, separating themselves from problems and highlighting their strengths and values.

It seems like the time went by so quickly. She was very genuine and listened to what I had to say as well as asking pertinent questions. She really focused on us. I’m looking forward to our next session.

I am excited to learn more about the methods that she mentioned. It seems like something that will greatly benefit me and my therapy journey. She also has a lot of experience with addiction and trauma, and from our first session has already mentioned solutions and a type of therapy that I have never heard of even though I have experience with other therapy/ in-patient/ out-patient etc. so I am looking forward to trying something new.

Heidi is astounding. I have been working with her for a little over a month. She shows no judgement and listens thoroughly to everything I have to say. I am so excited I found her.
