My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts determine how we feel and how we act. it’s important to identify and challenge negative or inaccurate thinking and core beliefs. Thinking more positively can help you solve problems, feel more confident about your abilities, and feel more hopeful about your life. Learning to identify, challenge and reduce negative or inaccurate thinking can lead to positive changes in your moods or behaviors. Over my years of practice, I have helped clients through the use of CBT to reframe their beliefs and restructure their cognition by educating and working them through strategies to counter negative or inaccurate thinking leading to lasting change and fulfilled life. Each session will be client centered, using active listening, reflection and clarification, probing for information, and positive unconditional regard, we will collaboratively work on their goals.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Life is full of dialectics or "opposites" which can be confusing. When one begins to understand these dialects, for example the need for acceptance of the self at the same time as needing to change, one will begin to function at a higher level. I will utilize both individual (insight/cognitive) interventions including specific skills, including core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to increase acceptance of self and impulse control to enhance quality of life. Mindfulness leads to less self-judgment and positive change.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

The key is that we can construct a new world view, if we don't focus on a problem but solution. I will assess clients use of language and concepts that construct past and present meanings, identify client's strengths, and we will collaboratively construct new realities that allow client to make productive choices.
