Hi, I'm Whitley, a licensed clinical social worker based in Georgia and South Carolina, dedicated to promoting well-being. I earned my degree from Savannah State University and specialize in supporting women through life transitions, managing responsibilities, and addressing depression or anxiety. Additionally, I provide close support to teens dealing with adjustment issues, identity exploration, and finding balance between school and personal life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial sessions, I prioritize building a strong therapeutic alliance based on empathy and understanding. I integrate evidence-based therapies and practical strategies tailored to each teen's needs. Together, we'll work towards achieving mental well-being and a sense of balance in their daily lives. These sessions aim to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to navigate challenges effectively.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my passions lies in educating individuals about psychotropic medications, shedding light on their potential side effects and risks. I strongly believe in the power of informed decision-making and empowering clients to understand their treatment options fully. Moreover, I highlight the essential connection between physical health and mental well-being.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) practice, I use a structured approach to address clients' thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I start by identifying negative thought patterns and beliefs, exploring core beliefs and cognitive distortions. Then, I help clients challenge and reframe these negative thoughts using techniques like cognitive restructuring. Additionally, I incorporate behavioral interventions such as behavior monitoring and goal setting to facilitate positive changes. Overall, I emphasize collaboration, skill-building, and empowerment, equipping clients with tools for managing emotions and improving well-being independently.

Psychodynamic

In my practice of psychodynamic therapy, I focus on exploring clients' unconscious processes and past experiences to gain insight into their current behaviors, emotions, and relationships. Through dialogue and analysis, I help clients uncover underlying patterns and unresolved conflicts that may be contributing to their difficulties. By fostering self-awareness and understanding, psychodynamic therapy aims to promote long-term psychological growth and improved overall well-being.

Strength-Based

In strength-based therapy, I emphasize identifying and building on clients' existing strengths, resources, and capabilities. I work collaboratively with clients to explore their unique strengths, values, and positive qualities, aiming to enhance their self-esteem and resilience. Through a strengths-focused approach, clients are empowered to leverage their strengths to address challenges and achieve their goals.
