LCSW, 20 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. I graduated with a Masters of Social Work degree in 2004 from Southern University at New Orleans. I am here to help you on your journey to overcoming challenges in various areas of life, improving self awareness on all levels, achieving your personal therapeutic goals, and living your best life.
During our first session my focus is to allow you to feel accepted and heard by listening with empathy as you express your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. I will work to build a therapeutic rapport with you as we identify and work towards your personal goals.
I love helping others in many ways and have a history of often being able to create partnerships that facilitate growth, positive changes using an array of skills and techniques tailored each client's individual needs.
I have worked in various settings providing individual, group, marriage and family therapy to individuals of all ages and populations facing a variety of challenges including low depression, anxiety, anger issues, behavioral difficulties, low self esteem, and grief issues among others.
I use CBT by utilizing collaborative structured techniques to help the client become aware of how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. I teach them about various skills and encourage the client to utilize them consistently to restructure their thoughts to lead to positive behavioral changes and improved ways of coping.
By utilizing Person-Centered in therapy with the client I work to build individualized therapeutic rapport with unconditional positive regard and accepting the client without judgment encouraging progress toward self growth and fulfillment.
When using Strength-Based Theory I encourage the client to utilize their existing strengths, values, abilities, and resources to reframe problems, support positive changes, and progress toward their therapeutic goals.
I use Mindfulness-Based Therapy by encouraging the client to have an awareness of the present moment with increased acceptance and without judgement to reduce emotional suffering and improve thoughts, feelings, and self regulation. Some of the tools that I like to utilize include breathwork, body scans, and grounding techniques.
