LMHC, 5 years of experience
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, emphasis in School Counseling, from Florida International University. I have experience working with multicultural populations in Residential, Outpatient, and Community-Based Mental Health Settings. My specialty areas include depression, anxiety, postpartum care, eating disorders, interpersonal relationships, coping skills, and mindfulness. I have worked with ages ranging from toddlerhood to older adults in an effort to help other humans live a meaningful life through connection, validation, and support. I approach therapy from a person-centered, cognitive behavioral perspective with a reflective lens in which the client is the expert and I provide the tools and practice to help learn skills to be utilized in everyday relationships. This allows the space for clients look deeper into themselves, judgment-free, to connect their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
Hello, I'm Kathy. Are you feeling stuck? Like something is missing but you can't quite figure it out? You've tried all the ways to distract yourself or move forward but you feel pulled back to your thoughts? Our first few sessions as we get to know each other we will build your coping skills toolbox and ensure that you feel comfortable practicing and accessing your support system. With use of tools such as diagnostic assessments to aid in symptom management as well as psychoeducation to help clients feel empowered about their lives. I integrate mindfulness to help bring the practice of awareness and acceptance to make positive change that aligns with your values. I also use a strength based approach to rebuild a strong sense of self and help reestablish your confidence.
I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I spent the first five years working at a 24-hour residential eating disorder facility that treated adult women and teenagers. I practice the intuitive eating model and health at every size framework. I then worked at University of Miami's pediatric practice working with postpartum moms providing early intervention, parenting, and education. I worked with new parents on their journey of parenthood and helping navigate this new challenge. I use a multicultural approach as I believe our customs and culture directly impact our current functioning.
I use Acceptance and Commitment therapy to help my clients work towards committed action by practicing increased acceptance and psychological flexibility to help them live life in alignment with their values.
I help my clients learn the skills to practice emotional regulation and the ability to integrate into daily use.

Kathryn has changed my life. I have been seeing her for a few years now and would recommend her to anyone who feels like they have been struggling to find a therapist that they can really connect and be vulnerable with. Her passion and dedication shine through in her approach and she has provided me with the tools that have helped me significantly improve every relationship in my life, but especially my relationship with myself. She is incredible!
