About
While depression and anxiety may be reasonable responses to your life experiences and the state of the world, that doesn't mean you have to suffer alone. You deserve support. I strive to create an environment where you can safely lean into difficult feelings and process your past and present without shame or judgment.
We will work collaboratively to unpack the impact of systems, relationships, and intersectional identities (i.e. women of color, immigrant background, cultural stress) on your well-being.
We will work collaboratively to unpack the impact of systems, relationships, and intersectional identities (i.e. women of color, immigrant background, cultural stress) on your well-being. Together, we’ll explore healing as an act of empowerment and transformation.
First session
The first session will be different from typical sessions as I will go over informed consent, confidentiality, and assessment-related questions. I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, your goals, and anything that feels important for me to understand about your experiences. We will both be evaluating each other to see if we are a good fit. If we choose to move forward together, we’ll explore what support looks like for you and outline a plan that feels both comfortable and empowering. You can expect a warm, collaborative space where we’ll get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust.
Strengths
My approach is to tailor treatment to your needs by drawing from various modalities. I integrate compassion-focused and trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative, art, mindfulness, and somatic practices, with culturally informed perspectives. I am currently training in Internal Family Systems and CBTi (for insomnia). I truly believe in our human capacity for positive change and growth, and therapy’s effectiveness in being a part of that change.
Ideal clients
Are you struggling with depression and anxiety? The weight of cultural expectations and figuring out your identity? Interpersonal issues and self-esteem? Stress from trying to find balance and meaning in your life? Effective therapy requires showing up consistently and believing in the possibility of change. This can be a challenging process, and I am here to support you on the journey. Let's work together towards fostering greater self-insight, stronger coping skills, and deeper self-acceptance.
Treatment methods
Relational
I draw on a deeply relational approach that centers the healing power of authentic connection. Meaningful change often comes from the experience of being genuinely seen, understood, and supported. In our sessions, I pay close attention to the patterns that emerge between us, such as how you relate, how you protect yourself, how you long to be met, and we use this dynamic as a safe, real-time space for exploration and growth. By slowing down together and staying curious about your emotional experience, we uncover the beliefs and behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. This relational work helps you build confidence, develop new ways of connecting with others, and create a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can help make sense of the patterns that shape how you think, feel, and act. It can be empowering when you learn to identify unhelpful thoughts, challenge them with evidence, and practice new behaviors that support healthier emotional responses. In our sessions, we work collaboratively to break overwhelming problems into manageable steps, using tools such as thought records, behavior activation, and skill-building exercises. I tailor each intervention to your unique needs and pace, ensuring the process feels supportive rather than prescriptive. As you develop these skills, you gain greater clarity, emotional resilience, and a sense of control to create lasting change. I do not adhere to a strict CBT model, but incorporate elements of it into my work.
Narrative
Your problems are not who you are, but stories shaped by experiences, relationships, and cultural messages. In our sessions, we explore the narratives that have influenced how you see yourself, especially the ones that may be limiting your sense of possibility, and gently separate you from the problem so we can examine it together. We look for overlooked strengths, values, and moments of resilience, using them to craft alternative stories that feel more aligned with who you want to be. This approach helps you reconnect with your agency, widen your sense of identity, and build a narrative that supports healing, meaning, and emotional well-being.
Eclectic
I combine the above modalities in an eclectic approach, meaning I will draw from various sources of knowledge to find what works best for you as an individual.
