Hello! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and owner of Blue Angel Counseling. Before becoming a therapist, I served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and retired at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Today, I bring that same dedication and sense of service to my work with clients. For over 15 years, I’ve helped people navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, and career transitions. My approach blends evidence-based methods—including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)—tailored to each person’s needs. Many of the struggles I see stem from unresolved past experiences or family patterns, which can lead to buried feelings, fear of abandonment, people-pleasing, and difficulties in relationships. Together, we work to uncover these roots, build healthier coping skills, and move toward a greater sense of balance and self-worth. If you feel stuck or weighed down and are seeking relief, I would be honored to walk alongside you as you heal and move toward your full potential.
During our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other in a supportive, non-judgmental space. I’ll ask some intake questions and may use simple assessment tools to understand better what brought you to therapy. Together, we’ll start shaping a treatment plan tailored to your goals. While everyone’s journey is unique, many clients begin noticing progress within the first few sessions. The pace of change often depends on how actively you engage with the process. As you gain new insights and tools, challenges usually become easier to manage—and healing tends to build momentum over time. Once your initial goals are reached, you may choose to continue with regular check-ins, whether monthly or bi-monthly, to maintain growth. My goal is to equip you with the skills and confidence you need to feel effective in your daily life. If this sounds like a good fit, I’d be glad to talk further. I offer complimentary 15-minute consultations to address your questions and assist you in taking the first step toward a brighter future.
My passion is helping people find their way toward healing, peace, and freedom. I’ve faced my own challenges and benefited from many of the same therapies I now use with clients, which has brought lasting positive change in my life. Because I know firsthand how difficult—but also how rewarding—the healing process can be, I bring deep understanding and compassion to the work we do together. Over the years, I’ve supported people from many different backgrounds in recovering from trauma, addressing life challenges, and building a stronger sense of self. I especially enjoy helping clients shift negative core beliefs, strengthen relationships, clarify purpose, and heal from family patterns that have carried pain across generations. Above all, I value creating a space of warmth, empathy, and respect where real growth can happen.
I work best with individual adults who are high-functioning, motivated, and ready to make meaningful changes in their lives. The clients who benefit most from therapy with me are those who come voluntarily and are open to engaging actively in the process—we do the work together, step by step, toward their goals. At this time, I focus solely on individual therapy (not couples, families, or children). I also generally refrain from providing official letters for disability claims, workplace issues, divorce cases, or similar matters, so our time together can stay centered on your healing and growth.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a proven, practical approach that helps people understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. I use CBT to support clients working through challenges like depression, anxiety, trauma, and even chronic pain. Together, we identify unhelpful thought patterns and practice new ways of thinking and coping, so daily life feels more manageable and balanced.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a practical, goal-oriented approach that emphasizes what’s working and builds on your strengths. Rather than spending lots of time analyzing problems or the past, we focus on your present resources and hopes for the future. With supportive questions and collaboration, SFBT helps you discover the solutions and strategies that fit best for your life.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps reduce the distress tied to traumatic memories. It works by activating the brain’s natural healing process, so that painful experiences feel less overwhelming and more manageable. In telehealth sessions, I guide clients through EMDR using audio tones with headphones, making the process accessible and effective online.

Mark has given me the tools to handle my anxiety and no longer live in a 10/10 anxiety state. I average a 0-4 on most days now. I really appreciate him!

I recently had a session with Mark and I can't say enough good things about the experience. Mark is compassionate, insightful, and deeply skilled at creating a space where I felt truly heard and supported. His thoughtful questions and grounded presence helped me gain clarity and feel more empowered in my healing process. I'm grateful to have him as part of my care team.
