Are you someone who is just starting to embark on your journey to improve your quality of life and mental health? Are you someone who has been under the care of a psychiatric provider and is looking for a more personalized approach to your care? Or are you someone who has had a bad experience with mental health services and is looking for a much more positive and empathetic approach? Look no further. My name is Gina Ameri and I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I provide a fresh and holistic approach to serving your mental health needs that is personalized to reflect your individual necessities and treatment goals. I have been actively treating mental health conditions across the lifespan, seeing patients ages 8-65. I have 3 years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and have over 17 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a variety of both inpatient and outpatient settings. I am fully licensed in both California and Nevada, treating patients in both States. I manage an array of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorder, insomnia, OCD, PTSD, ODD, and ADHD, to name a few. I provide virtual telehealth sessions that are patient-centered and rooted in evidence-based practices. I always lead with patient safety. I strive to actively listen to clients and provide a safe and non-judgmental space to explore areas of need. I provide medication management services with brief psychotherapy and/or psychoeducation. My goal is to restore the quality of life and mental health of my clients while promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle. While working with me, clients can expect a hands-on approach, meaning, I see clients frequently to ensure that they are making progress and reaching treatment goals. I work with clients collaboratively to create a treatment plan that is both comfortable and effective. I openly discuss treatment goals and make any needed adjustments along the way. I discuss the risks and benefits of treatment to ensure that clients understand what to expect and can make informed decisions about their care. I make myself available to clients to address any questions or concerns. My goal is to restore and maintain quality of life while improving overall functionality. Clients can rest assured knowing that their psychiatric provider cares and has their needs at the forefront.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, expect to have a thorough evaluation. We will discuss your treatment goals and areas where you would like to see improvement. We will collectively generate a treatment plan that you are comfortable with and discuss any expectations. I take a hands on approach with my patients and I will see you as frequently as necessary to help you achieve the results and improvements that you are seeking, with patient safety at the forefront.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I am holistic in my approach to care and feel that a balance in mind, body, and spirit is important. The treatment plans that I generate are rooted in evidence-based practice guidelines and are safety forward. I am conservative and try to use the least amount of medication needed to improve symptoms and overall functionality. I address my client's concerns about treatment and obtain a thorough medical and psychiatric history. I utilize self-assessment screening tools, such as the PHQ-9 or GAD-7, to help measure progress. I actively listen to patients and try to understand their goals. I also like to build rapport with clients and get to know them, which helps build trust. Ultimately, I would like clients to feel that their provider does care and wants the best for their overall health.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am approachable and down to earth, which helps clients who are ambivalent about addressing mental health needs or who have had a bad experience in the past. I have impeccable critical thinking skills, substantial clinical expertise, and extensive experience in health care. I take the time to listen and understand clients. I am respectful and non-judgmental. I am transparent and try to provide a clear picture of what to expect. Overall, I feel that clients under my care tend to stay because of the care I deliver, which is a reflection that my words are backed with action. I strive to help demolish the barriers to quality mental health care and work to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health. Please do not hesitate to book an appointment with me if this aligns with what you have been seeking in a psychiatric provider. I look forward to working with you.
