Hello! I'm Mickey, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of Texas. I am glad that you are here. I understand how daunting it can feel trying to find the right fit when looking for a therapist. In the midst of challenges, you are taking the right steps in finding your way to prioritizing your well being. The process can feel overwhelming, so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little about myself and my approach to therapy. My job is to provide a safe space for you to build trust and rapport, and to share without the fear of consequence or judgement. I am here to provide support and guidance to help you process difficult emotions, experiences, challenges and life changes. I mostly use cognitive behavioral approach to help clients better understand the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I don't believe in labels or "tough love" but rather, I will use an eclectic approach to therapy, which allows me to tailor my approach to the individual.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I will start with a brief introduction and talk with you about what to expect. We will then talk more about the specific challenges you are facing and what brings you to therapy. I recognize this is our first time meeting, and it is okay to only share what you feel comfortable. After our first session, we will begin to create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is the ability to build rapport and be empathetic. I am here to provide a safe space, along with evidence-based interventions, to help you achieve your goals and learn to prioritize your well-being. Together, we'll navigate challenges, build resilience, and foster personal growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past seven years. It helps clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to shift your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Strength-Based

Strengths-based therapy focuses on internal strengths and resourcefulness, rather than on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. This can help identify and challenge negative self-talk and focus on having a positive mindset. This can help you build on your best qualities, find your strengths, improve resilience, and foster a positive outlook.

Trauma Informed Care

The primary principle with With Trauma Informed Care is to establish trust and safety, to avoid re-traumatization. It guides the treatment process to help build awareness and understanding of trauma, choice and empowerment, safety and strength and resilience.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

With DBT, we will work together to help find a balance between acceptance and change by teaching practical, hands-on skills that will help you manage your emotions and reframe your thinking.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-Based therapy is a treatment method that will allow for a safe space for you to learn to slow down, pay attention to thoughts and feelings, and learn to accept and work through difficult emotions without judgement.
